S03E05 - Vanished in Virginia
| On January 29, 1995, a 30-year-old mother, Lisa Marto Gaudenzi, fails to report for Army duty in Virginia. The U.S. Army lists her as AWOL. Lisa's family members immediately suspect foul play and they begin a 13-year quest for answers before an eyewitness blows the case wide open. The murderer turns out to be the man that Lisa's family suspected all along, Lisa's husband Lawrence Gaudenzi, who has also gone by the alias Randy Lee Evans. At the time of Lisa's disappearance, law enforcement accepted Gaudenzi's story about the last time he had seen Lisa. When the case is picked up again and worked as a cold case, law enforcement discovers numerous lies that had been told by Gaudenzi. Gaudenzi is arrested and on the second day of his trial, he accepted a plea in exchange for information about his former wife's death. Gaudenzi was sentenced to 25 years behind bars. | |
